Child and Family Assessment
Child Assessment and Family Assessment is key to the effectiveness of subsequent actions and services and, ultimately, to the outcomes for the child.
Our child assessment services comply fully with the Assessment Framework of Children in Need and their families. We aim to integrate theory, research and practice wisdom to provide a seamless child assessment service blending all three elements.
A comprehensive balanced family assessment and child assessment is essential to enable all those involved to develop a clear understanding of the family dynamic, and the child’s experiences, to ensure the most appropriate services are provided and children are protected from harm. These include Kinship Care assessments, enabling wherever possible children to be cared for within their family of origin. JLS child assessment and family assessment services contain recommendations which are both realistic and achievable.
The timescale for each assessment from receipt of a formal letter of instruction to filing of our report is around 11 weeks. However, assessments of parents who have learning difficulties may take slightly longer.
